About the Recipe Pantry
What is the Recipe Pantry?
The Recipe Pantry at pantry.bakinggreatbread.com is an interactive bread baking recipe app — not a blog. It was created to solve a real problem: the chaos of organizing tested, community-proven bread recipes from the Baking Great Bread at Home Facebook group (50,000+ members) into a clean, searchable, interactive format that works on any device.
Every recipe includes built-in phase timers for fermentation, proofing, and baking. Ingredients use baker's math with scaling tools. Voice navigation lets you go hands-free while baking. And a built-in AI baking assistant helps troubleshoot in real time.
The Pantry currently features 99 recipes across 12 categories: Sourdough Breads, Sourdough Discard, Enriched & Sweet, Flatbreads & Pizza, Artisan Breads, Sandwich & Rolls, Quick Breads, Gluten-Free, Kids Can Bake, Special Techniques, Holiday & Seasonal, and Featured Recipes.
Who Created It?
The Pantry was created by Henry Hunter Jr., a U.S. Army veteran and former CBS/Fox advertising executive with 26 years of professional marketing experience. Henry learned bread making from a German baker named Herr Sherman during his Army service and went on to sell 80–90 loaves per farmers market at his peak.
He is the author of Sourdough for the Rest of Us, The Yeast Water Handbook, and From Oven to Market. He founded Baking Great Bread at Home as a Facebook community that grew to over 50,000 members, then launched Crust & Crumb Academy on Skool — now ranked #1 across all 191,000+ communities on the platform with a third-party verified 5.0 rating.
The Ecosystem
The Recipe Pantry is part of a larger educational ecosystem that includes BakingGreatBread.com, the Crust & Crumb Academy, a YouTube channel, and the Facebook community. Everything connects back to one mission: helping real people bake real bread, without the pretension.
